These Girls Can Run

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have a question and need to get in touch?

Absolutely! Unless you have a medical condition which prevents you from running there’s absolutely no reason why you can’t do it! All of the ladies in the group have been where you are now and understand how you might be feeling. Our groups are friendly and supportive and within a few sessions we’ll show you that you can do it!

We don’t want anyone to feel excluded whether they are a complete beginner or an experienced runner so our sessions include something for everyone with routes of approximately 1-3 miles with options and additional loops for those who want to do more. Our weekend long runs are for those ladies who want to push a bit further or who are working towards events such as 10km and half marathons.

Absolutely not.  Our Run Leaders are all qualified to look after you and run at the back of the group to ensure no one is left behind. We will work with you and walk with you if you need to with the aim of slowly increasing your overall running time over a course of sessions but at your pace and level.

No. All of our sessions are planned to ensure everyone gets something from it. It’s natural and a fact of life that some people will run faster than others. We include additional loops and also encourage the faster runners to loop back throughout the session which means that we all generally finish together as a group whether you walk/jog the shorter option or opt for the longer route.

We will never discourage anyone as we strongly believe we can help you reach your goals. If you’re really concerned please seek the advice of your group and consider starting a regular walking programme before starting with the group. This will help to increase your confidence before joining us.

Just bring yourself, a drink and lots of positivity. We also ask in the winter months that you wear an item of bright or reflective clothing for safety reasons. Lots of our runners have running lights too to use in the dark. Some ladies like to wear a pouch around their waist to carry keys etc. If you travel by car it may be worth leaving a towel/exercise mat in the boot for any floor stretches that we do.

The sessions generally last around 60 minutes and we generally don’t cancel because of the weather unless it’s its deemed unsafe by our Run Leaders, we just ask that you dress appropriately for the conditions. If sessions are going to be cancelled we will do our best to let you know as early as possible via Facebook and Gymcatch.

No. A decent sports bra and a good pair of trainers will do the job. Less layers in the summer, more in the winter but most of all ensure that you are comfortable. We also recommend having a decent waterproof for our Great British weather!

We have no membership fees. We appreciate that it’s not always possible to make the sessions which is why we just ask you to pay per session.

You’ll need to cancel your run 2 hours after 9am runs or before 10pm the night before our early runs to have your session credit refunded. It helps our Run Leaders to plan in advance if they know who is coming so they can tailor the session to suit everyone. We appreciate that life can get in way an in exceptional circumstances, please contact your Run Leader.
